Mr. Didar A. Husain:
Mr. Didar A. Husain is a renowned and dynamic personality in the Textile Sector of Bangladesh. Just after completing HSC with Honors from Faujdarhat College and while a freshman at Dhaka University, Department of History, he joined the Liberation War of Bangladesh in 1971, and was commissioned in the Bangladesh Army during the war. Having served with the Army with distinction which included being Instructor in the Infantry School for 3 (three) years, he retired as a Major in 1981.
He is the founder sponsor Director of Rahim Textile Mills Limited since 1981. He has more than 32 (thirty two) years experience in the Textile Sector. He is the Chairman of Rahim Textile Mills Limited and Managing Director of Graphics Information System Ltd., Property Care Services Bangladesh (Pvt.) Ltd. and Director of Hejaz Publications Ltd. Mr. Husain has been actively involved in the organizational activities of Bangladesh Textile Mills Association (BTMA) and was Vice President for the year 2005 and 2006. He was also a Member of the Business Advisory Body of CRP (Center for Rehabilitation of the Paralyzed), Savar.
Mr. A. Matin Chowdhury:
Mr. A. Matin Chowdhury is a Sponsor Director of the Company since 1981. He is a renowned and dynamic personality in the Textile Sector of Bangladesh. After his active participation in the liberation War of Bangladesh in 1971, he voluntarily retired from the Bangladesh Army as a Major. He entered into the family business with his brother late Mr. A. Malek Chowdhury into Graphics Limited, a company that pioneered printing, office equipment and other technology equipment. In the last many years, he moved from indenting to the manufacturing and is currently the Managing Director of Rahim Textile Mills Ltd, New Asia Ltd, Malek Spinning Mills Ltd, Salek Textile Ltd, Knit Asia Ltd, Hejaz Publications Ltd and the Chairman of J.M. Fabrics Ltd. and New Asia Synthetics Ltd.
He is the former Chairman of Bangladesh Textile Mills Association (BTMA) and Under Privileged Children’s Programs (UCEP). He is also involved with many other non-profit organizations including Diabetic Association of Bangladesh (DAB) as a Member of the National Council, Founder Trustee of Independent University Bangladesh (IUB), Founder Member, Board of Governors of Bangladesh Enterprise Institute (BEI) and many other voluntary organizations. He has more than 42 (forty two) years experience in the textile sector.
Dr. Shamim Matin Chowdhury:
Dr. Shamim Matin Chowdhury is a Sponsor Director of the Company since 1981, wife of Mr. A. Matin Chowdhury. She has more than 32(thirty two) years experience in the textile sector. She completed M.B.B.S from Dhaka Medical College and postgraduate studies from the U.K. Mrs. Chowdhury is a famous Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist. She is the former Chief Consultant of Pabna Mental Hospital. She is also the Chairperson of Special Olympics in Bangladesh. She is the Director of Malek Spinning Mills Limited (listed company), Salek Textile Limited, Knit Asia Limited, New Asia Limited, J.M. Fabrics Limited, Hejaz Publications Limited, Fatehbagh Tea Company Limited and also the Managing Director of NewAsia Synthetics Limited. She is the Member of Audit Committee of RahimTextile Mills Limited and Malek Spinning Mills Limited.
Ms. Saima Matin Chowdhury:
Ms. Saima Matin Chowdhury is a Director of the Company since 2007, daughter of Mr. A. Matin Chowdhury. She is a bright young executive having High School graduation from Concord Academy, Concord, Massachusetts, USA- B.Sc. from Swarthmore College, Pennsylvania, USA and MBA from Wharton Business School, University of Pennsylvania USA. She has work experience in the Unites States with Ernst & Young and Victoria’s Secret. She has more than 10 (ten) years working experience in the textile sector. She is also the Director of Malek Spinning Mills Mills Limited (listed company), Salek Textile Limited, J.M. Fabrics Limited, Fatehbagh Tea Company Limited and Design Asia Limited.
Mr. Azizur Rahim Chowdhury:
Mr. Azizur Rahim Chowdhury is a Director of the Company since 2007, son of Mr. A. Matin Chowdhury. He obtained graduation from Purdue University in the U.S.A. with a major in Computer Science and Business Management. He is the Member of Audit Committee of RahimTextile Mils Limited and Malek Spinning Mills Limited. He has more than 08 (eight) years working experience in the textile sector. He is also the Director of Malek Spinning Mills Limited (listed company), Salek Textile Limited, Knit Asia Limited, New Asia Limited. Hejaz Publications Limited, Fatehbagh Tea Company Limited and also the Managing Director of J.M. Fabrics Limited and Director of Bangladesh Textile Mills Association (BTMA).
Dr. Sultan Hafeez Rahman
Dr. Sultan Hafeez Rahman has been appointed as the Independent Director (non-shareholding) by the Board of Directors on 23rd September 2012 for 3 (three) years.The Board of Directors has re-appointed him as Independent Director for a further 3 (three) years. He is the Chairman of Audit committee of company. Dr. Rahman has nearly 40 years of professional experience, which span across the transport / communications, energy, financial (banking and capital markets), urban development, education, natural resources, environmental and agricultural sectors.
He is currently the Executive Director of BRAC Institute of Governance and Development (BIGD), which has recently merged with the International Growth Centre (IGC), an institution backed by DFID and the London School of Economics and Political Science.
Previously, Dr. Rahman served a 20-year tenure at the Asian Development Bank (ADB) from 1992 to 2012. He retired as Director General of the South Asia Department – ADB’s largest department, which accounted for nearly 40% of ADB’s total assistance operations at the time. He was also Director General of the Pacific Department from 2008 to 2009.
Before joining the ADB, he worked as a Senior Research Fellow at the Bangladesh Institute of Development Studies (BIDS). He also served as a member of several high-level government, regional and international expert panels, task forces and committees, including the expert panels of the 3rd and 4th Five Year Plans of Bangladesh. He was also adviser/consultant to the Ministries of Jute, Industry and Commerce, and Finance and Planning, Government of Bangladesh. He served as member of the Board of Directors of Agrani Bank from 1988-91.
Dr. Rahman holds a PhD in Economic Development from Stanford University, and an MSc in Economics from Vanderbilt University. He is a highly-respected economist and has published on a wide range of economic issues.
Md. Qamrul Huda
Md. Qamrul Huda, one of the Senior Bankers of the country former Managing Director of Pubali Bank Limited, Eastern Bank Limited and former Chief Executive of BCCI and additional Managing Director of Uttara Bank Limited and General Manager of Janata Bank. Mr. Qamrul Huda has been appointed as Independent Director (non-shareholding) of the Company for 3 (three) years by the Board of Directors of Rahim Textile Mills Limited on 19th June 2013.
